About The Garvey School

A joyful place to learn, grow, and lead.

Founded in 2008, The Garvey School is a vibrant learning community where children are seen, challenged, and celebrated. We serve students from 3-K through 8th grade with an education that honors both academic excellence and cultural identity.

At Garvey, children explore the world through rigorous academics, dual-language learning, the arts, and hands-on STEAM experiences. Our classrooms are filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection — and our students grow into confident thinkers and compassionate leaders.

We believe every child deserves to feel proud of who they are and excited about what they can become. That’s what makes Garvey different — and that’s why families choose us.

Our Mission

To challenge students to push boundaries in achievement, develop strength of character, tolerance and appreciation for differences in cultures and opinions, and to spend full effort on each task in readiness for the demands of world citizenship by providing varied opportunities for each student to explore, discover and excel well beyond all expectations.

Founded in 2008 and designated a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2009, we are committed to academic excellence, identity-affirming education, and a well-rounded learning experience rooted in love and liberation.

From the earliest years to middle school graduation, Garvey is a place where children grow, families are embraced, and the future is rewritten– one child at a time.

“The Garvey School’s decision to teach Mandarin gave students a unique edge. That moment when Savannah spoke Mandarin back to a salon worker? I’ll never forget it.”

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a generation of young people who are:

  • Fluent in more than one language

  • Skilled in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)

  • Talented in music, visual, and performing arts

  • Compassionate leaders and lifelong learners

With support from families and donors, our future is bright. We aim to expand our music program to include piano, violin, and voice, and restore beloved after-school offerings like horseback riding, entrepreneurship club, and homework help.

We're actively seeking funding to renovate our music studio, art room, and science lab to accommodate expanded programming by the 2025–2026 school year.
